Core is the closest physical representation of the borehole and the formation, providing information on petrophysical properties, rock behaviour and stresses, hydrocarbon content and other downhole fluid saturation. Its acquisition and analysis, interpretation and applications, require a comprehensive knowledge and the application of skills from other disciplines.
